AA Archives: 90 years of experimentation charts some of the projects, programmes and personalities which constitute a history of the school since the initiation of its five year day course in the early 1920s. Bringing together original drawings, models, film, oral history, photography and archival artefacts, the exhibition draws upon the AA Archives’ own collections, together with portfolios and objects contributed by former students and teachers. It presents a glimpse of many of the celebrated and influential projects that have emanated from the Diploma School, including recently discovered and previously un-exhibited material. Offering insight in the personalities, agendas and techniques of their time schemes include a diverse range of student work from, amongst others,Sir David Chipperfield, Tony Fretton, Sir Jeremy Dixon, Piers Gough, Grahame Shane, John Frazer, Achim Menges and Ole Scheeren – with highlights including film from Sir Nicholas Grimshaw’s 1965 graduation project and archival footage from Cedric Price’s Polyark bus project of 1971.
